I'll be discussing the ethical issues presented in the book The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down from a biblical perspective. I chose this book because I thought it would be interesting to examine the ethics involved in overriding a parent's wishes (tied to their cultural and religious beliefs) in order to treat a child in need of a life-saving medical procedure. In other words, how do healthcare providers treat patients while respecting their beliefs, especially when the two seem to be in contention?
